It is crazy crowded, and the roads – have a local driver, no westerner could survive driving there. Chaos. The deal with beggars is never ever give anything or you will be swarmed. I was there on business so usually had someone local with me. Shopping is s trip – you are expected to bargain. One of our staff helped me out with that at the Bazarre, got some cashmere scarves and some pearls. Seeing Water Buffallo walking down the middle of the highway was definitely different. Cows everywhere.
I ate more-or-less ‘western’ for breakfast as i’m just not ready for spicy food first thing in the morning. Otherwise mostly ate indian food. The Hotels all run big Buffets for lunch, with a lot of indian, chinese (they love chinese) and some western food. Brought home abag of Lays ‘India Magic Masala’ potato chips. Gotta find an asian grocery that carries those.
The people are very very nice. It was so good to meet folks I’ve been working with on the phone for so long.
Next trip, though, i’m giving myself more time to recover from jet lag when i get there.
