HI Susan! Glad to have you join us but wish it was for a better reason than fighting BC. Bladder pain is very common with BCG treatments. The drug unfortunately is harsh on our bladders. I found out via using PH strips very acidic which I think causes the horrible hot razor blade peeing when you first pee it out. The presence of blood in your urine probably means that the bladder lining is getting inflamed. This isn’t unusual with BCG. However that being said, monitor it. It should clear up fairly quickly now that the treatments are finished for a bit. Drink lots of water and I mean lots to keep your urine very diluted. AS mentioned avoid caffeine for a few weeks. I found that this helped to heal the lining. I didn’t have any presence of blood until the 20-21st treatments and it was scarely visible but I had plenty of bladder pain. I found that Aleve worked better than Tylenol at the end. If that doesn’t work and you are still experiencing discomfort within the next week or so, I’d contact your doc and ask for something to help you. For future BCG treatments if they are to be continued you could ask your doc if you could possibly have a lower dose to lessen side effects. I’ve had 21 treatments in total and managed full dose until the last 4 and just couldn’t do it anymore. I switched uros in the middle of all this and my new one agreed that my side effects were going over the top and my last sessions were at 25%. Still tough but more doable. For me I figured out that a lot of the bladder pain was actually my bladder spasming (spelling?) When I mentioned it to the nurse she was sympathetic and said that my bladder was probably fed up with all the intrusions of catheters and drugs and was protesting. Since I stayed at the hospital for my treatments the nurses would pack hot blankets on my tummy, back and between my legs and then cocooned me in a couple more. This sauna like thing helped me hold it the full 2 hours. If you are doing your treatments at home I suggest laying down with a hot water bottle or heating pad and snuggle under a few blankets or quilts. Keep using the heat on your abdomen, back and between your legs for awhile after finishing the treatments. After my last session I needed the heating pad for about 2 weeks off and on and needed periodic pain killer for almost a month as I continued to have occasional muscle pain, headaches and some bladder spasms. As Greg said a warm bath helps too. I added Epsom salts (Eucalyptus scented) to the bath water and found this to be heavenly. It helped take away a lot of the aches and misery. Good luck and keep us posted.
